Info - The redesign of this existing urban plaza included improved-upon transit connections, public performance and gathering areas, treatment of all on-site stormwater, public art, and a public-space activation plan.

Info - Part of a larger transit-oriented development in Oakland, converging transportation modes, including BART, bus / shuttles, bike lanes and ride-share services were accommodated in this busy urban plaza redesign.

Info - Analysis of the existing public space surrounding an historic train station combined with an understanding of site feasibility, opportunities and constraints produced a conceptualization of a future transit plaza with many community benefits and uses.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT & SMART GROWTH

Project - Making a Visible Difference, (US EPA)
Location - Las Vegas, NV

Status - Technical Assistance Report, finalized

Info - With the US EPA and local stakeholders, solutions were identified and provided to the community for five sites in downtown Las Vegas during the course of a three-day charrette. Designs focused on social justice and equity design initiatives, and incorporated pedestrian prioritization and safety, and safe routes to school, tactical urbanism, and pop-up temporary community services.

PEDESTRIAN AND BICYCLE PRIORITIZATION

Info - Part of a city pedestrian prioritization plan, roundabouts were installed on designated bike routes as traffic-calming measures, each containing boulder layout and appropriate planting designs.

GREEN / BLUE INFRASTRUCTURE AND CLIMATE RESILIENCY

Project - Greening America’s Communities (US EPA), Iwilei and Kapalama
Location - Honolulu, HI

Info - With the US EPA, local designers and stakeholders, solutions were identified and provided to the community for current storm & tidal flooding and future impacts from sea-level rise. Methodologies included green infrastructure, complete streets, and eco-districts focusing on social equity, environmental justice, and transportation initiatives.

Info - Part of a larger, multi-agency Preliminary Development Plan around West Oakland BART station. Proposed design features included: public market space, performance area, maker spaces, affordable housing. Designs and planning work to incorporate pedestrian and bicycle prioritization elements, green infrastructure solutions, and public art.

Info - Conceptual design through Construction documentation of three separate private rooftop amenity spaces, as well as the surrounding public streetscape and public plaza for a new building in an historic area of Philadelphia.

DOWNTOWN REVITALIZATION

Project - Livermore Downtown Core
Location - Livermore, CA

Info - Part of a larger downtown master plan, the Downtown Revitalization Project included a redesign of an existing parking lot surrounded by building backs. The space was reimagined to include a new parking garage, pedestrian paths and bike trails, wayfinding, and plaza spaces. Designs solutions included climate appropriate planting, green infrastructure and pollinator pathway elements.
