APPROACH

There are certain things you should know about Prototype’s design approach: it will always include materials, practices and standards that are as *sustainable as possible.

Design elements might include (but are not limited to):

  • utilization of methods that are best practices, tried and tested, technologically current

  • reuse of on-site materials

  • planting designs with mostly / if not all native plants

  • the use of local / domestic materials

  • bird and pollinator friendly planting design

  • bioswales / rain gardens / phyto-forward

  • lawn alternative / low-mow native grasses

  • protection of existing / healthy trees

  • pervious and porous surfaces

  • definitely more - the list grows

services

Some of Prototype’s practice areas include:

  • residential; single-family and multifamily

  • green infrastructure elements

  • streetscape design and improvements

  • commercial development

  • site remediation

  • adaptive reuse

  • parks and recreation

  • historic documentation (HALS)

  • grant application support

  • probably other things - get in touch, let’s talk

*sustainable
has become a buzzword; what Prototype means by sustainable:

  • materials included are considered ecologically appropriate; responsibly harvested/ made/ produced/ managed; domestically sourced and/or native when possible

  • methods used and specified are considered best practices, tried and tested, technologically current
